Building strategic judgement in a Talent Partner team

In the context of organisational integration, Worldpay’s Talent Partner team needed to sharpen how it added value: where to own, pass or orchestrate work; how to turn data into a credible executive point of view; and how to operate as a community rather than a collection of specialists. MJA began with confidential interviews, then designed a two-day working session around the team’s live challenges. Participants explored role and interface tensions, practised curiosity and influence, and used a Point-of-View Canvas to move from evidence to judgement. A five-hour business simulation tested their ability to work through ambiguity, competing priorities and stakeholder pressure. The work concluded with individual and team commitments, accountability pairs and a rhythm of four-weekly follow-ups. The emphasis throughout was on building strategic judgement in the work itself: staying curious longer, testing assumptions, considering alternatives and trade-offs, and expressing a credible point of view when there is no obvious answer.
