Measuring the value created by global Communities of Practice

MJA conducted global surveys of AB Sugar’s Operations Community in 2015 and 2019, and the Agriculture Community in 2017, to determine how well the company was collaborating and leveraging the strength of the group, by locating each Community’s stage of development on the VALRI pyramid.

The insights generated from the survey and follow-up interviews informed decisions about where and how to invest or apply change management resources and behavioural nudges in order to support the Community’s development towards its full value-creating potential. Although the results were not significantly different between 2015 and 2019 it was obvious from the survey and follow-up interviews that the Operations Community was more strongly embedded in the Group’s culture and ways of working than it was in 2015.  People in all businesses reported value and benefit in networking with colleagues in other locations.
